RE: Towing, speed, safety

If traffic gets heavy, I speed up to stay with it. Otherwise I do 55 mph. If you CAN'T do that, perhaps your TV really is too underpowered, even if you are within its tow limits. A dog is a dog.

RE: Terrible TT/tow rig bouncing on dips in road

My guess is your not even close to tight enough on WD hitch.

RE: storing things under your travel trailer

TT's do not come with a jack OR a lug wrench. Many don't even have a spare tire, usually its an option. If yours is a dual axle, get some leveler blocks. Build a ramp for the non flat tire, and just pull up on ramp. Works for me.

RE: First Year Retirees , Staying Home , How About You?

We've been retired about 5 years now, and always spend the winters at home. In fact we love the snow. Course not having to drive in it when it is bad is a real plus.
So, not our first winter, but still. Snow in the mountains is great.

RE: Solar battery conditioner

I've used the VDC solar BatteryMINDer controller on our HTTTH for several years, it works great. I use a 15 amp SCC180 controller with someone elses 15 watt panel (no seperate 15 watt panel available from them when I bought mine). If you have a specific question, pm me.
IMO 5 watts is a bit small.

RE: Autoformers, what are they?

We found we need ours in about 20% of the CGs we visit. Works fine. Ours is a Hughes.
Note you can use a 30 amp version on a 20 amp line just fine, as 30 is more than 20. You could not use a 20 amp version on a line drawing 30 amps, if you could find one, as you would let all the smoke out and it would quit working.

RE: Leveling our HTT...best chocks and best way to stablize?

I use Lynx Leveler blockis for leveling.
Rotochoks are best chocks IMO.

RE: Suspension Maintenance

Over 50,000 on our HTTTH now. No bronze inserts, no grease fittings, no discernable wear. It is a Thor of Calif Wanderer.
I agree keep an eye on things, but only things I do on suspension is watch. I do also watch brake linings and grease hubs, but not sure those are suspension?

RE: Using the Equal-i-zer WD hitch

We leave everything connected. We almost never unhook. No troubles yet in over 50,000 miles on our Equal-i-zer hitch. We do love our electric tongue jack.
BUT, I wouldn't say no matter how high. We take some weight off TV suspension, but have never lifted even close to high enough that bars could be moved.

RE: sticking grey water valve

IMO try this first. Get a spray can of silicon lube. EMPTY tanks. Now fog at least a third of the can up the pipe while opening and closing valve. Spray a bit on the handle shaft also. It works GREAT for us. Storing tanks with peanut oil also helps lube valves. We use peanut oil as it is cheaper than coconut oil sold by camping stores to lube valves.

RE: Help a Newb -- Winterize my Hybrid....

On my HTTTH there is a small piece of pipe between the water line bypass valve and the water heater. There is also a length of pipe between my fresh water tank and the valve I use to winterize by sucking antifreeze from a jug. Both of these lengths of pipe are NOT protected UNLESS I put some antifreeze into my fresh water tank, and run the pump a bit, and allow some antifreeze to get into water heater. I choose to protect those lengths of pipe. In over 12 years I have not had any problems flushing them, or with freezing. Your choice.
If you leave the plug out of the water heater, you may find insects have set up housekeeping in there come spring. One poster reported bees in his. I do not leave the plug out.

RE: Plastic bin storage horror

We never store food in our HTTTH. It invites mice, and where we live, might entice bears (or raccoons, or whatever).

RE: To Cover or Not to Cover

Well we are north of you, and about 2000 feet higher, but we do not cover our HTTTH. It is now 5 years old, no troubles yet. We DO cover the tires for UV protection. No trouble with last TT either after 7 years, but it wasn't a hybid.
So my opinion is, why cover? We do not.

RE: Titanium's Tire Rubbing undercarage!!

Also ask if he has "upgraded" his tire size, or gone to bigger wheels. Seen a few folks who "upgraded" and found out why that is not always a good idea.

RE: Electrical Outlets

Can we assume you are connected to shore power? If not, are you using a generator? Outlets only work when 120 VAC is available. They will NOT work from batteries unless a VERY fancy after market inverter is installed.

RE: Winterize Question

If you only blow, you risk some backflow into a low spot in plumbing. If it fills pipe at that point, it could freeze and burst. Per Murphy, it will happen behind a wall. Personally I will not risk that to save 2 gallons of antifreeze at under $4 a gallon.
Many happily do it, but it would be just my luck .....

RE: Easy Lube Wheels

Loved them on our last TT. A few slow pumps a year worked. I also pulled one wheel hub every other year so I could check brakes. While off I packed by hand. Worked for me.
